Ae Hee Lee

My father liked to tease with an old pun,
saying he found me
under the dari, the arch
of my mother's dari, her splayed legs—
I felt fortunate to be called
the daughter of a bridge.
Born in South Korea and raised in Peru, Ae Hee Lee is the author of two poetry chapbooks: Dear bear, (Platypus, 2021) and Bedtime || Riverbed (Compound, 2017). Most recently, her work Connotary was selected as the winner for the 2021 Bull City Press Frost Place Chapbook Competition. She holds an MFA from the University of Notre Dame and a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
